Updated Skincare Routine

It has been a whole year since I have done a skincare routine post and I think now is as good as any to do one. I have normal to dry skin but during the Summer I get a little oilier on my forehead. My skin isn't excellent, I get spots (yay hormones) and I have a natural redness in my skin. My skincare routine isn't perfect, some products I am just trying out or trying to get rid of, while others have been there for a while.

Makeup Remover

Ponds Cold Cream

This is a cream cleanser, I would best describe that it has the texture of a thick moisturiser. This hasn't been my favourite makeup remover, I think it's mostly to do with the smell but it doesn't smell that bad. I just much prefer coconut oil as a makeup remover. I bought this when I heard a YouTuber Melanie Murphy rave about it. It does the job, it's gentle and a little goes a long way with this, I never have to double cleanse unless I am wearing very heavy makeup.

Giordani Gold Nourishing Cleansing Milk

I use this when I am lazy or need to take off my makeup quickly. I like this cleanser, it comes in a pump bottle, which is amazing, it is gentle and it does a pretty good job at removing makeup. I find that it can't remove heavy makeup, waterproof mascara, eye liner etc. but apart from that it does a really good job. The only problem is that this stings my eyes if it gets anywhere near them which has never happened to me before.

UltraPure Witch Hazel Soothing Lotion

I have just started using this as my skin has gone against me recently. Witch hazel is amazing on spots and other skin impurities. I normally put a small amount on my face, leave it on for less than a minute and then wash off as it sometimes can dry out skin.

Lush Tea Tree Water Toner

I use this toner twice a day and spray it all over my face and pat it in. I love this toner, it doesn't have alcohol in it, it feels so refreshing and it's from Lush! I find it helped keep my skin looking and feeling nice.

Boots Botanics All Bright Purifying Face Scrub

I exholiate twice a week, it isn't too harsh on my skin but after using it my skin feels so soft and healthy. I haven't noticed that it brightens my skin. This has been the third or fourth tube I have gone through and I will definitely be using this for another while, until they change the formula or something.

Boots Simply Sensitive Protecting Day Moisturiser

Since Spring has finally started in Ireland in the past 2 or 3 weeks I decided that I needed a moisturiser with SPF or some kind in it, to protect my ghost like skin from the sun. I have been using this for 3 weeks and so far I like it. I feel it does the job as a day moisturiser but it does have the scent of sun cream, it isn't terrible but it is noticeable.

Cetaphil Moisturing Cream High Tolerance

I have had this in my collection for years, I got it when I had very dry skin around my eyes and I was recommended it by the Pharmacist. It is a thick moisturiser, perfect for a night moisturiser. The great thing with this moisturiser is that a little goes a long way. I only need a little amount to cover my face.

Eye Cream

Simple Kind To Eyes Soothing Eye Balm

I use this in the morning and the evening for the past few months and I found it hasn't done much for my under eye area. It is definitely soothing and refreshing to put on but I don't know if it is worth using if I can't find any see a difference in using it.

Spot Treatment

Lush Grease Lightning Spot Treatment

This stuff, is my holy grail spot treatment. It reduces redness and the size of the spot overnight which is awesome. It smells of tea tree and all the other ingredients are natural in it since it is Lush.

Dream Dots

I use Dream Dots if I have a huge monster spot. They are overnight patches that you place on a spot and it helps to reduce the size and redness. They are a little pricey to use every day as it's €15 for 24 patches and I would go through them in less than a month. I love having them on standby just in case if a face demon tries to terrify me.

Lip Balm

Dr. Paw Paw Original Balm

I bought this on a whim last year and it is amazing. I use it's a lip balm but it can be used for other things. I sometimes get really chapped lips and I find this helps so much. It isn't very thick and absorbs quickly.

Nivea Lip Butter Raspberry Rose

This is an overnight lip balm/treatment I use. It leaves a thick moisturising layer over your lips and sometimes when I wake up the next morning I can still feel it on. I love the raspberry scent.

What's in our skincare routine?

Sleek MakeUp iDivine Palette in Oh So Special Review

I haven't done a beauty post in ages, I just haven't felt up to doing one and since my blog is changing, focusing more on my life than beauty, I never felt that it was right. I mentioned this Sleek palette in my most recent Favourites and I have fallen in love with it.

I didn't realise that the eye shadows had names until I was looking for more information by accident. The names are so cute like Bow, Pamper and Gift Basket, I think they are adorable. My palette has taken a few bad falls and unfortunately I broke one of the hinges off it, I'm still using it as it didn't damage anything else.

The packaging is sleek, matte black, strong plastic. It is very light to hold, but won't fly away in the wind! The only thing is that it scratches very easily and it can be noticeable. On the inside it has a nice large mirror, perfect for on the go, the eye shadows of course and those crappy sponge applicators, I hate them but I lost mine and I don't mind that it is lost either. It used to clasp close tightly and wouldn't accidentally reopen but since I broke mine I have to be extra careful.

Eye Shadows

I have been trying to experiment with the different eye shadows but I always seem to go to back to the same few shades The Mail, Boxed Up, Gift Basket, Bow and Organza. I use a mixture of The Mail and Boxed Up for my eyebrows as I find it is suits my brows very well. I haven't gone near Noir yet as the fear is real with black eye shadow as it normally mounts destruction for me.

First row Bow- Celebrate
Second row Pamper- Noir
The Mail didn't swatch very well
I love the shade variety as there is so much to choose from. The eye shadows are longer lasting on my eyelids than the majority of others, if I have a base on it, it would last all day.

Here are some of the eye looks I created with the palette:

The Mail, Boxed, Gift Basket and Bow

Celebrate, Ribbon, Pamper and Bow

These 2 looks look slightly similar in the pictures but the first one is more of a copper and the second one is more of a purpley brown.

What's your favorite eye shadow palette at the moment?

How I Blog: School and Blogging

I have decided to start up a little mini series called 'How I Blog', I hope to be discussing what I do when it comes to blogging as I know everyone does things differently.

I was half tempted to put School Vs. Blogging as the title but then I realised that you can do both, you don't have to feel like your focusing on one and abandoning the other. Saying that, I think school and my education is more important than my blog and it is ok to admit that. If it is between preparing for a blog post and studying for an exam obviously I will go for studying for the exam.

I am lucky that this academic year isn't that strenuous, I go to school 4 days a week, one day of work experience, little to no homework and a few projects. It is optimal conditions for blogging, I can spend more time than usual writing up blog posts and taking photos. This time last year wasn't as easy as I had my first state exams Junior Cert and I know next year when I'm in 5th year it won't be as easy to find time between homework, essays, projects and tests, I don't think I'll have much time to breath after that. So here are a few things I go by when it comes to blogging and school.

School Always Comes First

It sucks to say it but unfortunately hobbies comes second compared to school. I want to go to college/university after I finish school and since course points are based on supply and demand, I have to work hard from the word go. The majority of the course for the Leaving Cert is done in 5th year and I don't want to be going into 6th year stressed out more because I did nothing the year before.

Use Weekends and Holidays to Your Advantage

I use this now a lot as I sometimes I have so much going on during the week, I have to leave the bulk of my blog work for the weekend. Also, taking photos at the weekend as for me it's nearly dark when I get home between October and March and you have more time to get ready. Holidays are great for preparing blog posts in advance, I started writing this 27th March when I was on my Easter holidays.

Do A Few Twitter Chats

I have only got into Twitter chats this year but I know that next year I won't be doing half of them. I think it is important to do at least one a week as you get to interact with other bloggers but I don't do them every day. The great thing is there are so many of them at the weekend for Irish Bloggers, LBloggers and Chatty Bees. Some of my favourites are The Girl Gang, Crazy Bloggers, CBloggers, Irish Bloggers and Chatty Bees.

Use as a Study Break

I used to do this a lot last year when I had tons of study to do, when I would take a break I would work on the next blog post, reply to comments and read other blogs. I found this really refreshing and relaxing. The only thing is you may slip down that rabbit hole and return 2 hours later with no study done but everything in moderation!

Do in Evenings After Finished Homework

I am that sort of person that after 9pm I cannot do homework, I get tired and frustrated which is not fun and I won't do my homework in that state so I try to finish before then. After 9pm, I go on the Internet, do some blogging, watch some YouTube videos and maybe watch some TV.

Schedule 6 Days in Advance

I like to be organised and I feel like this has been the best way for me to get work done. I try to get my blog posts ready the Sunday before, this gives me a chance if something was to happen, I would have extra few days to get it finished.

This is what I do and I know everyone is different.
How do you balance School/College and blogging?

Drama¦ The Wedding

This has been the play I have been going on about on Twitter for the past 3 months! My character Mandy, gatecrashes a wedding in a wedding dress convinced she is going to marry the groom, just an average day for me! After realising her chances with the groom are very low she decided to go after the bride's ex-boyfriend, Harold. She is also not the most intelligent person in the world as she thinks someone is a bachelor because he has a bachelor's degree.

Since the play was set in the 80's, I went for like a perm look but my hair wasn't really co-operating with me so it ended up being very curly. I tried to continue with the 80's vibe with the makeup with bright blue eyeshadow and a vibrant pink lip. The wedding dress, there is no other word to describe it other than old fashioned. It looked horrible but that was what I needed. It was comfortable enough to wear.

You could really call Mandy a diva, with 3 meltdowns, arrives to a wedding in a wedding dress, threatens someone and cases so much drama, you can see why I would call her that. Along with that, I had to sing We Go Together from Grease. I didn't really mind when I was asked as I am up for anything and I had forgotten that it was going to be in front of 500 people. I actually enjoyed singing but the song didn't suit my voice fully.

I love being on stage, I always feel the most alive when I'm someone else on stage or just being a drama queen in general! I do get nervous, I think everyone does a little, nerves are good as they keep you alert. As the years have gone by I have loved being on stage more and more. It's like a drug to me, it's kinda weird to compare it to drugs but there is no other comparison.

In Rehearsals
I loved the group that I was with, we are all locals. At the start I only knew a few people as it was my first year to do it but I got to meet some wonderful people. I also got to experience what it is like to work with an adult cast as I normally did a play with people my age. I really enjoyed this experience and I am sad that it is over, I'm going to be honest, I don't want to sugar coat it. I miss it terribly, I miss the excitement and happiness I got from it, the people I worked with and the funny moments we had as a group. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity next year to do it again. I miss it already and it was only a week ago!

What do you think of Mandy?
See you,

February/March Favourites 2016

I have decided to do favourites once every two months than every month as I find I have more to talk about and also I free up another blog post where I could be writing something else. I also want to change the name, I don't know what yet, as I want to add in things I did or places I've gone. If you have any ideas, please comment below and I'd be eternally grateful. So here's my February/March Favourites.

I went to see this movie on Valentines Day, I know how romantic, with some of my friends. I love action movies and when I heard there was a movie with a sarcastic superhero, I was so excited and also because Ryan Reynolds was the main character. I loved this movie as there was plenty of action, comedy and sarcasm. I know it's not really a movie that everyone could wait as there were a lot of fighting scenes but I enjoyed it.

Room (Book and Film)

I also went to see Room in cinema with my Mam and my friend Róisín. I hadn't read the book before I saw the movie but I really enjoyed the movie. It was very interesting and kinda light-hearted even though it is a dark subject. It's about a boy called Jack who lives in Room with Ma, he doesn't realise there is an outside world to Room until Ma gets sick of living there and they escape.

I read the book and the movie did it justice. They are a few changes but nothing annoying or plot destroying. It's all from Jack's point of view which makes it more interesting as he thinks it's normal to be in Room.

Inferno by Catherine Doyle

I had been long waiting for the second book in the Blood for Blood series. I got my hands on it at the end of January but I wanted to reread the first book, Vendetta. I finished it in about 2 weeks and it was amazing. There are so many more plot twists and drama than the first book. I did a review of Vendetta already and I hope to do Inferno in the next month or two. I won't go on about it too much as I have already explained to storyline in the review (click HERE). If you like YA fiction then you'll love this book.

Sleek MakeUp i-Divine Makeup Palette in Oh So Special

I have had this palette for over a year now and it is only now I have really got into using it. It is supposed to be a dupe for one of the Naked Palettes. They are really pigmented but I have to put on a base eyeshadow, Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in 35 On and On Bronze (Bad to the Bronze), as it wouldn't stay on my oily eyelids without it. I have been using it and dropping it so much that one of the hinges broke and I had to tape it up, I'm not going to throw it out just because it's broken.

3 wouldn't swatch!
These are my favourite eye shadows at the moment:
1 (Organza) shimmery dusty pink
2 (Gateau) shimmery baby pink
3 (The Mail) matte light brown
4 (Boxed) matte dark brown
5 (Gift Basket) shimmery chestnut brown
6 (Celebrate) shimmery purpley brown.
I use 4 and 5 to fill in my eyebrows and I use all of them to do different eye looks.

Sleek MakeUp Lip VIP in Backstage 1003

This is such a Spring colour. It's a corally pink that compliments my pale skin. One of the main reasons I like it is that its long lasting, I would only have to do touch ups after I ate anything and normally I would have to touch up every 2 hours with other lipsticks. Also, it smells like chocolate to me. I know it sounds weird.

Lush Fresh Face Mask Love Lettuce

When I was up in Dublin at the midterm, of course I had to go to Lush. I love the face masks as I'm not really a bath sort of person, I was recommended Love Lettuce from one of the employees as I have normal to dry skin. Let me tell you, if you have dry skin you will fall in love with this. It is a moisturising mask and when you wash it off, it works as an exfoliator. This makes my skin so smooth and when you have it on your face you look like the Hulk! I have nearly 5 pots to bring back to Lush, so I'm getting Love Lettuce again.

Essence The Gel Nail Polish in 31 Electriiiiiic

I am normally not a nail polish sort of person but I was given this nail polish (among other things) as a thank you gift from the chemist I was doing work experience. I am normally terrible with nail polish, it's good if it lasts a day but this one lasted 3 days on me. I love the colour it is such an electric blue.

Cadbury Creme Eggs

For those who don't know what Creme Eggs are, they are limited edition chocolate eggs with sugary goo inside and I love them! So every year when they are released for Easter I always eat my fair share of them. I'm not too sure if it's just a UK and Ireland thing, are there Cadbury Creme Eggs where you live?

Hymn For the Weekend by Coldplay feat. Beyonce

This is my jam at the moment. I am listening to it at the moment and I find it hard to explain why I like it so much, here comes all the musical terms, I love the piano that is prominent in the song, it has a strong beat but nothing that's near dance music or when 'the bass drops' and it so upbeat.

Truth Before All

I mentioned this a few times before, I think it was first mentioned in my Summer Roundup. Last year between March and June, I wrote a play. I gave it to my lovely Speech & Drama teacher and she adapted further to work on stage. I hadn't got the edited script and for a while I didn't know if it was going to be used but I found out as a lad in my class started asking me about it as his sister was in it. Since I was helping backstage for the show I got to see it. I was proud of my work as there were only little changes. My Speech & Drama teacher liked it as well as it looked like I knew what I was doing. I hope to write another play this year, or maybe two!

What are your current favourites?
See you,
