My New Sport: Kickboxing

Hey!
As I have mentioned in more than one post, I have been doing kickboxing since the start of September. I didn't want to do one of these posts until after a few months of it because I find for a few weeks I will like something just because its new and then I realise it is not for me. I didn't want to write about how much I enjoyed it, to say a month or two later that I gave it up because I found it boring. Thankfully I still love it from when I started (which was the day before my Junior Cert results, that feels like years ago). I started kickboxing because I needed to do a physical activity for my Gaisce award and also I really wanted to learn how to do self defence because I know I'll need it in the future.

I do 2 classes a week, one on Tuesdays and one on Fridays, for around an hour and a half. It is normally quite an intensive class, but that can vary depending on if we are doing cardio, sparring, kicks, punches, movement or self defense.

At the moment, I am getting ready to do my grading for my white belt (1st belt) at the start of February, for this I had to do a self defence class and train regularly for 3 months, which I have done. On the day of the grading as well as drills (if you can call them that) I have to:
Run half a mile
20 push ups
20 sit ups
20 tricep dips
Skip for one 2 minute round
It doesn't seem that much but from what I have heard, they are easy to do by themselves but once you have to do them with all the other drills you are to do it can be harder.

Gear is important in kickboxing because you could easily break something if you are not wearing your gear. I have wraps, gloves, boots and gumshields. The gumshields are used for fighting but I haven't done very much of that yet because I don't feel confident enough but I hope to do a bit more as the year goes on. The boots have no soles which is slightly odd but it is definitely more comfortable that way.

My fitness has 100% improved, from doing little to no exercise, now its between 2-4 times a week. I have become more flexible as well which is a good thing because I have never been flexible.

This is what my wraps look like on!

I didn't start this for weight loss but I think it is helping me maintain my weight and sometimes losing a little. This part isn't that important to me because I am happy enough in myself at the moment.

Overall I really enjoy it and I hope to do it for as long as I can.

Is there anything you would like to know about kickboxing?
See you,

Empties #3

Hey!
I haven't done an Empties since June (its been a while). I have decided I would do these more as I like doing them and I find them interesting to read.

Makeup

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Precision Micro Eyeliner Waterproof

I don't even know why I got this! I hated this product, it wasn't black enough and also the felt tip pen was so flimsy and never worked properly. It never goes on smooth. I much prefer liquid eyeliner.
Will I repurchase? It's a no from me!

Avon Clearskin Blemish Clearing Stick (Concealer)

I found this in my room when I was cleaning it, I remember this concealer from when I was in first year nearly 4 years ago, so it is definitely out of date and it doesn't even match my skin tone.
Will I repurchase? No

I really liked this product and I still haven't replaced it because there are only certain shops that stock NYX at the moment (Boots are starting too). It kept my makeup in place  and matte for the whole day. It was around €10 which is great for a setting spray.
Will I repurchase? Yes, definitely

Skincare & Hair

Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Hold Hairspray

It was alright, did the job. There's nothing really more to say about an average hairspray.
Will I repurchase? No

I liked this toner but the only thing was that it would make my skin feel dry if I didn't put moisturiser on within 10 minutes of putting on the toner. It helped to clear up my skin if I had any spots it would help to get rid of them quicker.
Will I repurchase? If they were to reformulate it, so it doesn't dry out the skin then yes

Trash

These are just a few things that I found and I'm just going to throw out.

NYC Quad

I have no idea what's this is even called but it has been discontinued. The eyeshadows are so chalky and just terrible. I suppose that's what you get when you spend €4 on it.

Victoria Jackson 24/7 Makeup Profolio Sunset Color Kit

I have no idea where this came from! Its just taking up space.

Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad in 01 Purple Drama

This is another thing I just don't understand why I bought it, the colours are so horrible but I don't even remember ever using it as it broke once as I got it and 3ish years later I am getting rid of it.

Autograph Palette

Another thing that I have had for years and is gone past its time of use.

Do you have any empties?
See you,

Trying To Go More Cruelty Free

Hey!
As I said last week, one of my New Years Goals is to become more aware of brands that test on animals and buy more cruelty free makeup and skincare products. The reason why I want to go cruelty free on my makeup and skincare is that I hate that animals have to be tortured so we can put something on our faces. Its not a nice thought when you realise this that the makeup you are wearing, an animal had to wear it before it could get to you.

Some brands try to hide that they test on animals by saying that they will only test on animals if by law you have to. For example, this is what one company have on their website about testing on animals.
The only exceptions are the very few countries where, by law, the regulatory authorities require us to submit our products or ingredients to them for testing on animals as a mandatory part of their regulatory protocols in compliance with their local regulations.
By them saying that they selling in places like China, that is mandatory to test on animals for a new product, means they do test on animals.

I am not going to throw away any of the products that are tested on animals as that would be a waste of money but what I'll do is substitute out all the animal tested products for cruelty free products. There will be some exceptions for example, my foundation ( I find it hard to get a foundation that suits my skin) and dry shampoo (I'll need to find one that I like).

Cruelty Free

Essence
Catrice
NYX
Seventeen

I would really be interested in your opinion.

My 2016 New Years Goals

Hey!
I feel like everyone has had their say on their opinion on New Years Resolutions or setting their own. I normally don't start on 1st January for some reason as I like to spend a day or two thinking about what mine could be.

Personal

Try to go more Cruelty Free on makeup and skincare
I have done a lot of research on this topic and I really want to stop buying products from brands that test on animals, there will be a few exceptions as I can't find another drugstore cruelty free foundation light enough for me. I will be doing a post on this next week.

Get Driving
I hope to get my learners permit when I turn 17 in April (that's the legal age here in Ireland). I don't really care about how good or bad I am at it but as long as I can drive in a straight line and start the car myself, I'll be happy.

Get a Yellow Belt in Kick Boxing
At the moment I have no belt (or as I call it my invisible belt) but by the end of this year I hope to have my white belt and my yellow belt. I'll have to grade twice this year but I'm up for the challenge.

Save €10 a Month
I am a good saver but a better spender so I hope by the end of the year I will have €120 saved to spend it on Christmas presents, Anniversary present for my parents or something for me, I'm not too sure yet.

Stop Bitching About People
I feel like I really need to stop doing this, I know everyone does it from time to time but I found like to stop doing it as talking behind people's backs is so negative and I want to be a more positive person.

Write Another Play
I have already written a play last year which is going to be used in my Speech and Drama show (eek!) but I really want to write another as I enjoyed the creativity of writing a play and I have had a lot of inspiration recently so I hope to get cracking.

Blog

Hit 10,000 Pageviews

I feel like I'll surpass this goal pretty well as at the moment I have over 5,000 views now so I think it is possible, I may rethink it when I come to one of My New Years Goals Updates.

Put Up 1 Video a Month on YouTube
I have a YouTube channel that is pretty much abandoned unfortunately. It is a music channel and I have a few reasons for not posting like slow internet but that's the only thing stopping me. I really want to push my channel this year to get 100 Subscribers. I also want to put more of my own music up on it when I am happy with it.

Do 5 Collabs
This year, I want to do 5 collabs with 5 different bloggers, this will exclude Collabmas (if I am going to do it or not). I really enjoy collabing with bloggers as I still feel like I'm the newbie even  though I have been on this blog for nearly a year (WOW!).

Use Different Social Media More
I really want to become more diverse on my social media, I spend a lot of time on Facebook (personal) and Twitter but I really want to spend less time on them, especially Facebook, and more time on other platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr. The only thing is I don't know how to use Tumblr so if anyone knows how to Tumblr and wants to do a series on what to do, who to follow etc. I'd love it!

Check Facebook and Email Twice a Day
This ties in with the last one, I spend too much time checking my emails and on Facebook so I'm trying to cut down to going onto it twice a day which I think is manageable. I just feel I waste a lot of time on these two things.

Some Smaller Goals
These are not the most important to me but I would like to get them. By the end of 2016 I hope to have:
500 Twitter Followers
50 Blog Followers
25 Pinterest Followers
1,000 Snapchat score
100 Instagram Followers
A Signature

I'm contemplating on setting up a Facebook page. What do you think I should do?
What are your New Years Goals?
See you,

What I Got For Christmas 2015

Hey!
Welcome to 2016, I hope this will be a good year for you. I know this is a tad late but I normally receive a few Christmas presents after Christmas and I like to include them in my 'What I Got For Christmas ' post. Just a disclaimer, I am not bragging about what I got, I like these blog posts and I enjoy reading them. So, here is what I got for Christmas:

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime

So far, I really like this phone but I have only the SIM for a few days as I needed a micro SIM and I didn't have one of them. The screen is huge, it has a decent camera (but I will still be using my iPod to take pictures) and I was so happy when I found earphones in the box as I feel my Apple earbuds might give way soon. I also put my Bluetooth name is 'Guardian of the Galaxy' because I'm cool like that!

 Takamine Guitar

You could really call this my main present this year but I didn't get it until I was up in Dublin this week as by the time I had picked the one I wanted, I would have had to go to Dublin city centre the weekend before Christmas which I did not want to do. The reason why I wanted to get another guitar was that I wanted one with a pickup (can be plugged into a speaker) and better sound quality as my old one was a cheap guitar that I had got from Argos a year and a half ago. I love the colour of the body of it, it has so much more edge compared to my other one.

Kickboxing Boots

I really wanted to get a pair of my own kickboxing boots as the ones I was using were old and the elastic was gone in it. My aunt got them for me and I love them. You have to wear these boots in kickboxing to protect your foot or any part of your foot from getting injured or broken and so the person you are hitting doesn't get badly injured either. Even though they are boots, they don't have soles in them as your foot is the sole!

Boots Voucher

I love Boots and I am so happy that I got a boots voucher for Christmas as I can go absolutely nuts in Boots and I won't have to regret it as much. I have no idea what I am going to but with it but definitely makeup!

Seventeen Lip Gloss and Nail Varnish Set

This two where stocking fillers that I received, I haven't tried any of the lip glosses yet but I have tried out the tinsel nail varnish and I really like it but it is a nightmare to take off!

Nirvana Unplugged in New York

I got this as a present from Secret Santa and I still haven't listened to it but I am interested to see do I like it or not.

PS Love Eye Shadow Palette

I got this from another group of friends that were doing Secret Santa. I am looking forward to trying it out but I don't have much hope for it as I have found only one type of cream eye shadow that can stay on my eyelids for more than 30 minutes and I feel this might slip off but I am willing to try and hopefully I'll be surprised.

Benefit Pucker Up & Party Set

I bought this in Dublin this week with some money I was given at Christmas. I had tried the Bene Tint before and I really liked it but I had never got around to getting it as it was €20 but I saw it in this cute set for €19.75 and I said 'Hell, yeah!' I have tried Bene Tint and Bene Balm and I like them so far, a bit sheer though!

I really enjoyed Christmas this year.
Did you enjoy Christmas?
See you,
