My 2016 Roundup

How is tomorrow the beginning of 2017, this year has flown! Instead of focusing on the negative, I am going to tell you about some of my favourite moments of 2016. I did one of these posts last year where I talked about the different things that happened in each month and also the most popular post of that month, click HERE. This year I wrote 61 posts, 5 collabs, 7 guest posts, a short story, a poem and 14 YouTube videos. Here is a small summary of my 2016:

I loved Barcelona, it was a great trip with great people. It has definitely been one of the highlights of TY. I have 2 posts on my days there, click HERE and HERE.

London is one of my favourite places I have been so far in this world. I got to experience more of the London life and I got to visit The Making Of Harry Potter. If you are even slightly into Harry Potter or just curious about how they made the movies, I would highly recommend going. I had a wonderful time shopping on Oxford Street and going into Lush there too. I enjoyed my time there wonderfully and I can't wait to go back. Click HERE for the post.

You may have noticed that I have been slightly absent from social media the past week, well I have been in Tenerife for Christmas. I find it so odd that this year I have been out of the country 3 times when normally it might be once at most. My Mam and Dad decided to have a family Christmas holiday to celebrate Mam's and Dad's 20th Wedding Anniversary. Hopefully, I will have a blog post on Saturday of my first time in Tenerife.

20,000 Page Views

I remember at the start of the year thinking I couldn't even surpass 10,000 views but here I am to tell the tale about how my blog has grown a lot this year.

First Proper Cast Play

This feels like a huge deal to me as I got asked to be about it a cast. This play was in April and I did a post about it HERE. I still miss the crack with everyone as I knew very few at the start but that was completely different at the end. I miss my character and the slagging I got. I miss my ugly, slightly uncomfortable wedding dress I had to wear. It was a great experience and I feel that I will remember it for a lifetime.

I Started to Learn to Drive

This experience has been both terrifying and enjoyable at the same time, I have done 7 lessons and I am driving around going here and there. I'm glad I am learning to drive now when I have the time, I'm at home and I have my parents as willing co-drivers to help me through the bends and straights of learning to drive.

My Play Got Performed

Remember back in one of my last TY Thursdays where I mentioned this. I know it has been a while but a play I wrote the year before. My Speech and Drama teacher used in her end of year show which was interesting to see something that you had created in real life. I haven't had the motivation to write another one as there are many components including enough lines and stage time for each character. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I Received My Bronze Gaisce Award

I am so proud that I finished my Bronze Gaisce and I have started my Silver one which I am nearly half way through. I really enjoy doing them as they are a challenge.

I Got Longlisted in Blog Awards Ireland for Best Lifestyle Blog

I got longlisted in Blog Awards Ireland again this year! They didn't have Best Youth Blog category this year but I entered under Lifestyle. I am happy that I got this far as I knew I wasn't as good as some of the amazing other blogs that were in the same category.

I Read 15 Books

I think that I read a good few books this year. I wish I would have more time to read but my time can be limited at times. Here's all the books I read:
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
Vendetta by Catherine Doyle
Inferno by Catherine Doyle
Room by Emma Donoghue
The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening by L. J. Smith
The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle by L.J. Smith
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Fantastic Beast and Where To Find Them
Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern
Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone
Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets
Me, Earl and The Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix

I Did Grade 5 Piano

I started preparing for this exam in September 2015 and I am over the moon that it is finally over. I got bored of my pieces pretty quickly and let's be honest the scales aren't much of a joy either. I think the exam went ok, there were a few slip ups but I kept going strong. I haven't got the results yet but I hope I will get them in a week or two.

New Years Goals 2016 Review

Sorry this post isn't very Christmassy but I wanted to get this post up now rather than later. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas. I can't believe another year has come and gone. I feel that 2016 has been a weird but good year. I wrote a post at the start of the year stating my goals for the forthcoming year and now I'm going to see how I did with all of them.

Try To Go More Cruelty Free

I have tried pretty hard at trying to buy more cruelty free products, I'm still trying to find a cruelty free foundation that's pale enough for me and dry shampoo.

Get Driving

As you already know, I have started learning to drive, yay! I have 7 lessons completed and I have 5 left to do. So far, I am enjoying it but it can be very frustrating when I keep konking out. It is one of those skills that you need to keep working at and eventually you will get it. I try to tell myself Rome wasn't built in a day.

Get Yellow Belt in Kickboxing

I am happy enough to say that I have my yellow belt. I haven't done any grading since June as I haven't attended enough classes to participate. I can't go twice a week any more which sucks but I enjoy going on a Friday.

Save €10 a Month

I'm surprised I pulled through on this one. I now have €120 to saved, I mean I had €120 saved but some of it is gone, oops. I found this an interesting task as I have no job. I couldn't put in the money every month but if I had received some for my birthday or something, I would put it in ahead of time so I wouldn't end up spending it.

Stop Bitching About People

This one I have come to the conclusion is very unrealistic as I'm not perfect nor will I ever be perfect. I thought this would help me to become more positive but actually it hasn't changed anything. I don't really know what else to say about it..

Write Another Play

At the start of the year, I thought I would write another play. I had intentions and ideas but I didn't have the willpower to write it. I much prefer writing stories as I don't have to worry about how many characters there are or how many lines they each would have. I'm not taking this as a failure, more of a realisation.

Hit 10,000 Pageviews

I crushed this! I remember thinking I might hit this milestone in September or October but it was in fact July. I was pleased with myself as I didn't think I could possibly get it so quickly. It makes me feel proud of this slice of Internet I have to my own, that I share my thoughts on.

Put Up 1 Video a Month on YouTube

At the start of the year, I was pretty bad at being consistent but since April I have been putting up at least 1 video a month. I have found it very hard since September to have the time to record and upload one but I still have made a decent effort. I hope to give myself this challenge for next year as I don't want to abandon my YouTube channel.

Do 5 Collabs

I did 5 collabs this year which I am really happy about as I didn't think I could do it. I did collabs with Frances, Guilianna (twice), Nicole, Aisling and Christina. I love doing collabs I find them so fun and interesting to do as you get to know another bloggers from all over the world. I hope to do more collabs in the future. I also did a number of guest posts, 7 to be exact.

Check Facebook and Emails Twice a Day

I tried to combat this as I also procrastinate by quickly checking my Emails or scrolling and scrolling down the never ending feed that is Facebook. I have noticed that over the year I am less likely to check my emails but when I am bored I will end up scrolling through Facebook.

My Favourite Christmas Songs

I ran a Twitter poll a few weeks ago to see what you wanted my last Christmas post of 2016 to be and I was surprised when the results came in that 'My Favourite Christmas Songs' came on top. Here are some of my favourite Christmas Songs, I have made a Spotify playlist of all my favourites and some more that I haven't mentioned.

Fairytale of New York

This song is one of my favourites. Anytime and anywhere I have been in the past when the first chord of this song is played everyone knows the long and sings along. Of course, it isn't your usual Christmas song as it is quite negative and different but that's one of the reasons I love it.

Do They Know It's Christmas

Another great song. I personally much prefer the original Bandaid version to the remakes in the past. I love how it is a charity song and is inspiring to donate to people who are less fortunate at Christmas. Anyways this song is so catchy.

Lonely This Christmas

I have noticed that Christmas songs are either very happy, snowy or sad. This is another oldie but goodie. I suppose Christmas isn't a magical time for everyone so this song shows that.

Merry Christmas Everyone

This is one of the more jolly Christmas songs and I think everyone knows this one. It makes me feel so Christmassy when this one comes on the radio or on my Spotify playlist.

Night of Silence/ Silent Night

Since I am a part of my school choir, we have to do some more unusual Christmas songs including this one. It is quite a haunting but beautiful Christmas song. I love the harmonies we have to do as there are three part harmonies.

Winter Song

Even though this isn't a Christmas song, it does have Winter in its name and whenever I hear it or sing it in choir, I feel like Christmas is shortly around the corner. I have a cover of this song on my YouTube channel, click HERE.

White Christmas

Another absolute classic. I find it funny how everyone wants a white Christmas but the only white Christmas I had, the water pipes in my house nearly froze. Apart from the slightly unrealistic weather in Ireland anyways, it is a decent tune.

Last Christmas

Another sad Christmas song but I love how upbeat it is. This is one of the few songs that remind me of Christmas when I was 4 or 5 years old and I'm not too sure why. Also, it is a really nice song to play on the ukulele.

Winter Wonderland

A song about how beautiful snow and sleigh bells. This song is the definition of Christmas for nearly everyone at once as it comes on the radio everyone is singing along to it.

Christmas Lights

This is a very unpopular one but I have recently found it and I have fallen in love with this Coldplay classic ever since. It is not your normal happy happy Christmas songs as it mentions fighting and breakups in it but it is so beautifully done. This is the song I will have on repeat this year.

I feel that I am so boring with my Christmas song choices as I love the classics.

My Winter Essentials

Like all seasons, I have a love/hate relationship with them, I love them at the start but by the end I am sick of the weather. I find Winter the hardest season as it is so cold and over the past few years I have compiled a few of my own Winter essentials that I am going to share with you.

Hand Cream

My hands always get a bit beat up during the Winter because it is so cold and the heating dries them out, so hand cream as become my best friend. I have them everywhere, I have one beside my bed, at my desk and a travel sized one which goes with me to school or on my travels. I'm not that fussy on hand cream as long as it does the job. My favourite one is from Aveeno as it is soothing as well as moisturising and it is made for dry/chapped skin.

These have been a life saver for me the past two years, I suffer from cold hands and feet (chilblains *shudders*) and these are perfect on the go when you need a little heat to warm yourself up a bit. The ones I have are from Primark and are reusable. You bend the metal piece and it starts to warm up. I have a different version of them HERE. I find them great when I am waiting for the bus in the morning going to school or during exams when I'm in the hall and have cold feet, I slip them into my shoes. The heat lasts for about an hour which is wonderful when you are perished.

Lip Balm

Lip balm is another must for me as I hate getting chapped lips. Some of my favourites are Dr. Paw Paw, Nivea Lip Butter Original, Benefit Benebalm and EOS. I keep these lying around everywhere, in my bedroom and some in my bags. My favourite one is Nivea Lip Butter Original as it is moisturising and feels lovely on the lips. Also, I put it on going to bed and most of the time when I wake up there's still some left and my lips feel nice and moisturised.

Books, Movies and TV Shows!

There's nothing better than being all cosy in bed reading a good book. I love to read whenever I can find the time. I adore the escapism to a completely different world. I have so many books I want to read and I hope to get through the never ending list.

I find that all the good movies come out around now like Moana, I really want to see that, it looks amazing. All my shows start back in the Winter too like Greys Anatomy, Code Black and Criminal Minds. I'm looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces once again.

What are your Winter essentials?

Christmas Wishlist

It's that time of year when I put up a few Christmas posts and why not start off with a Christmas Wishlist one. I normally make these wishlists but some things I never get for some reason. You may also notice that a few of these items may have been already mentioned on a different wishlist but I still want them so they are here.

Real Techniques Starter Set

Since I have started experimenting more with eyeshadow, I feel that my tin brush collection is not satisfactory any more as I have to clean them every time I want to change a colour, I love Real Techniques as a brand as I have their Core Collection for 3 years now and the brushes still feel like new. They don't shed and are so easy to clean.

Dior Poison Girl

I still have my eye on this perfume but I would prefer not to look at the price tag as it is quite expensive even for the smallest bottle. I love the smell of it ever since I was smelt the tester in an airport coming home from Barcelona. I don't have many perfumes and I would like to have this one as my statement one to wear on special occasions.

The Makeup Chair Handbook

I have been watching Sinead Cady for over a year on YouTube and I want to get this book so badly. She has videos going through topics from her book which I found very helpful like picking skin undertone, shape of face, the list goes on. I like to expand on the skill that is makeup and I would love to support an Irish YouTuber with her awesome book.

Harry Potter Colouring Book

The whole topic of mindfulness has really sprung up since this time last year. Then I didn't have much stress (TY life!) while now things are a little different. My cousin has this and it is cute and I just want to spend a little while colouring in a picture of Dobby or the Hogwarts crest.

Canon Powershot SX420

I have been wanting to get a digital bridge camera for ages and I feel like now would be a good time as I need to record videos for my YouTube channel, blog photos of course and I love photography in general. I'm picky when it comes to choosing a camera, I want one that does not cost an arm and a leg and comes with a Li-Ion battery as I hate fiddling around with batteries!

Image result for throne of glass series

Throne of Glass

My friends are absolutely obsessed with this book and book series and when I asked them what books I should read, they suggested this one. I really want to get the first three books to get me started. It says that it is similar to The Hunger Games and it is about an assassin, so it is definitely my cup of tea.

Soap & Glory Eyes Box

I haven't tried much from Soap & Glory before but I know that they are a wonderful luxury brand with a drugstore price. I never know what to choose whenever I see a stand in Boots but I feel that this will give me an idea of what I might like. I have heard so much about Archery as it is a dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz.

Image result for makeup eraser

Makeup Eraser

I forget what YouTube video I saw this on but I want it. I think it is such a greener alternative to using face wipes or cotton pads to remove makeup. I love that it comes in a few different colours but I will probably go for the original as I like pink.

Image result for harry potter ebooks

Harry Potter E-Books

These came out in September and I still haven't got my hands on them! I hope to put them on my Kindle, which I haven't used in years. I love how we are getting an expansion to the wizarding world and I can't wait to read them.
Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide

What is on your Christmas wishlist? If you have done a post already please send me the link, I love reading Christmas wishlists.

The October and November Edition

I can't believe another 2 months have come and gone, I have been so busy! Here are a few things I have been loving this past 2 months.

Image result for sing street

Sing Street

This movie is set in inner city Dublin in the 1980s where Conor, the main character, gets moved from a posh fee paying school to a public school. He doesn't really fit in too well but after he tries to impress a girl by asking her to be in a music video for his band, he decided to try to find people from his school to form a band. I loved everything about this movie, the music, the comedy, the actors. It is one of those dorky feel good films.

Image result for the girl on the train

The Girl On The Train

This is another film I loved but it isn't as light hearted as Sing Street. This is the movie adaptation of the book. It is slightly messed up and words can't describe the plot as it ends up being something completely different in the end. It kept me at the edge of my seat during the whole movie. I thought the actors were brilliant especially Emily Blunt as she did a superb job at being the mess that is the main character Rachel. I also think that the actress that plays Meagan looks like Jennifer Lawrence, does anyone else see that?

Image result for the addams family

The Addams Family

A Halloween classic that I had never watched until now and I really don't get why I hadn't watched it beforehand but it is such an enjoyable movie. I feel like everyone and their dog have watched this movie at some stage.

I bought this scarf completely on a whim when I was shopping a while back as I love the colours. I bought it Heatens but I can't find it online, so here's something similar.

I love wearing this as during the Winter I always feel very cold and this keeps my neck nice and warm. It isn't bulky too which is great as it can be worn underneath a coat without looking bulky.

Rimmel Sun Shimmer 002 Summer Passion

I think this may be discontinued as I can't find it anywhere except Amazon. I have recently been using this bronzing palette to contour. I use the lightest shade to contour and then the middle shade to bronze some of the high points of my face and I haven't gone near the darker shade at all!

I love the pigmentation of this product and how easy it is to blend in. I am surprised that I found something paler than Benefit Hoola to contour with and I love using it.

Sleek Makeup Highlighting Palette Precious Metals

I won this in a giveaway, thanks Marta! Since receiving it, I have been experimenting more with highlighters and where to put them. I have noticed that I don't like to have too much glitter in my highlighter but a little doesn't hurt. All shades are very pigmented, I normally go for Platinum, Royal Gold and Renaissance Gold.

My favourite one is Renaissance Gold as it has a lovely sheen without containing a pile of glitter. I haven't used Antique Bronze as it is the only powder in this palette and I feel like it is too dark for my skin tone but I will eventually get around to experimenting with it.

Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream

I have been using this for a few months now and I love it. It is a very hydrating moisturising cream that smells wonderful, I'm really bad at describing scents but on the packaging it states it is hibiscus. I have very little left in this pot, I have a backup so there is no need to worry. I thought I would go quickly through this product but surprising a little goes a long way.

I don't really believe the whole brightening effect that it states as I think my skin is too pale to brighten. Overall, I love this night cream and the best part is that it is only €7!

GoggleBox Ireland

I have fallen in love with this show, if you are not familiar with this show, you are basically watching people watch TV. It sounds so boring and stupid but it is one of the funniest and most entertaining shows I have ever watched. You get introduced to a number of families/friends who watch a program and make comments or have a discussion about something on the show. My favourite people for the Irish version are the Tully twins and the Ryan family as they are both hilarious and come out with the most interesting things. This show has brightened my Thursdays a little more and makes Friday feel more doable.

My YouTube Channel

I have lacked completely putting up videos as I am finding it harder and harder to get time to record edit and upload videos, I wish this was not the case. I have put up 2 videos Bad Blood/I Knew You Were Trouble Mashup and Winter Song Acoustic Cover.

What are your favourites this month?

Life Lately: November 2016

I have noticed since I started back to school in September I haven't shared anything with what has been going on in my life. I know last year was different as I had things to talk about but now I don't. I'm in fifth year now (Junior Year) and I'm in school five days a week every week. I don't have work experience on Tuesdays or spontaneous trips during the week any more. I miss TY, I miss the freedom and lack of seriousness of it all. I miss coming home and having no homework to do and do some blogging or go off to one of my many after school activities. I hate having to be negative but this is my life at the moment, school, homework, study, sleep. I miss checking my blog during the week and taking part in at least one Twitter Chat a day now I can just about do one once a week!

On a more positive note, I like having 170 people in my year. That might sound crazy but I met and got to know some people that now are in my year which is cool. I am also glad that I am doing subjects I enjoy more like Music, French and Chemistry. I didn't think I would like Chemistry but I much prefer it over Biology.

I'm doing 8 subjects, all Higher Level, English, Irish, Maths, French, Music, Biology, Chemistry and LCVP. I'm find most subjects alright except English. I have a different teacher and she is a little intense. I've had a few tests already and I worked so hard for them but I only go 60%, I want this to improve as the time goes by but unless I get a spelling or grammar weaver for my Leaving Cert (which I think is highly unlikely), I'm going to get badly penalised for spelling and grammar errors.

I feel like I'm trying to do the impossible this year and so far it is working. I am trying to do my Silver Gaisce but I'm managing fine. On a normal week I would have Speech and Drama, I'm helping out with a class this year, Piano, Dyslexic Support Group and Kickboxing. My week is hectic but I like it that way. Since I have a huge lack of a social life, I don't go out to night clubs or pubs, I feel that I can manage everything.

My YouTube channel has been lacking a lot and I have come to the realisation that I can't upload twice a month, even though I want to, it's not practical at all. I haven't been online much, mostly on the weekends.

There's always a silver lining to school and that is holidays, I had a week off for Halloween which was perfect! I got to relax and do some things I wanted to do but the week flew by. I did a study skills course for Dyslexic students which I found very interesting and hopefully what I learned will help me to study. I went to see some of my relations for a few days and I had 2 driving lessons. It was a busy week! I also got to dress up twice, at school there was a dress up day and I went as a Social (Media) Butterfly and the second one was totally unexpected and last minute as I had to help out at a Halloween community fundraiser and I went as Wednesday Addams.

There were teacher strikes as well. All across Ireland over 66% of schools were closed after the midterm as ASTI members withdrew from supervising and sub roles which meant that many schools including my own had to close. It went on for 2 days (not very long I know) I didn't take these days off to do what I would have preferred. I spent the time studying and revising work for Christmas tests. I did take some time off as well to do more fun stuff since I had the chance.

I know this may seem mostly negative but this is my life lately and I didn't want to sugar coat it.
Thanks for being awesome,

My Current Favourite Lipsticks

I love lipstick, I feel that it can completely change or complete the look. I haven't shared my current lipstick favourites in a while as I haven't been experimenting with different lipsticks. When I find a lipstick that I love I use it as much as possible and abandon my other ones. Here are some of my current favourite lipsticks.

Revlon Super Lusterous Lipstick 415 Pink in the Afternoon

This has been my most used lipstick ever! I remember buying it in early 2015 on a complete whim and I am surprised that I have used up at least half of the product. It is a pinky nude that I loved to wear before I got really into doing eye makeup. Another thing I love about it is that it can be worn all year round as it is not very bold. This has been the most expensive lipstick I have ever bought, I have no high end lipsticks. I love the packaging too, it looks so sleek and professional.

Sleek Lip VIP Backstage

The swatch does this lipstick justice while the picture below of me wearing it does not at all. This is a bright coral colour that I love to wear to add a pop of colour to a look. It doesn't last as long as the Matte Me Lip Creams but it nourishes your lips and doesn't leave them looking dry and chapped. This lipstick is more Spring/Summer as it is a bold shade but I hope to get some use out of it during these cooler months.

Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream Birthday Suit

Every blogger in the world has tried this lip cream out at this stage and I see why everyone loves it. I was surprised when I bought it that it was a perfect nude for me. I was hesitant buying it at first as there were no testers and I wasn't too sure would it suit me, I was surprised that it complimented my pale skin tone. It lasts for so long too, none of my other lipsticks can last 4-6 hours without reapplying.

What are your favourite lipsticks at the moment?
Thanks for being awesome,
